Experience Does not Pay the Bills - Medical Language Specialist Keizer Solutions Employee Review

Pros

You are able to work from home. For someone new to the healthcare documentation field, Keizer is great for gaining experience editing transcriptions.

Cons

The pay is low for an independent contractor, and is hourly for a full-time employee at minimum wage ($14/hour). Payroll is also delayed frequently, sometimes as little as by 5:00 p.m. Eastern on your payday while other times as late as Monday of the following week, or Wednesday of that week. Major inconsistencies with their quality assurance team where each person marks reports differently which makes it difficult to know what standard to follow.

Pros

I am an experienced medical transcriptionist and used to make a decent salary. However, my hospital outsourced so I decided to try working at Keizer. Well, even though I edited perfectly between 20 and 30 medical reports a day, I only made about $7 per hour, so I quit. This is less than minimum wage. The only pro I can think of is being able to work at home.

Cons

Just stated as above, very poor pay. Even an experienced transcriptionist cannot make any money.
