Pros
- Removing furniture from landfills - Good experience for learning how to navigate a toxic workplace
Cons
This is all meant (for anyone who reads this) to attempt correcting this behavior for their next roles because Kaiyo won't be around much longer. - Poor leadership, too many reactive decisions - High stress, low reward environment. The cycle of stress never seems to 'end' - No upward mobility - Little support from management, you know you are just a number - Hired too many C-level executives simultaneously with little knowledge of business or ecosystem. - Grew too quick, wasted money on an expensive HQ for <10 employees... - Don't hire anyone until you can keep the staff you have - this was always a problem. - Don't use the 'carrot and stick' analogy in any workplace. Ever. - Do not use 'wartime decision' this is not a war, it's a business. War kills people, but businesses shouldn't. - If you are in a leadership position, listen to those working on your team/other teams. Stop doing 'what worked elsewhere' because it did not work at Kaiyo. - Don't gaslight people, be honest about trajectory and if people leave be prepared for people to leave. - Don't blame market conditions as an excuse for not solving problems.
