Pros

All agencies tend to have an unspoken rep of a bad work-life balance, but in my time with JS Casting, they were incredibly friendly and supportive while on the clock but also respectful of work hours. Never did the Head Writer, who I worked directly under, ever demand a crazy workload from me, or try to make me work off the clock. She was engaging, happy to answer my questions or teach me new procedures for the job, I genuinely enjoyed getting to work with her.

Cons

My only con isn't even a real con. It's just that there were no positions available for full-timers passed my freelance contract. I would've loved to work there full-time.

Pros

- creative work environment where you get to cast a variety of shows for major networks and streamers - genuinely kind co workers who are care about how you’re doing on the day to day - team oriented company that works together to attain overall casting goals - the owner of the company is a kind and approachable leader who is present day to day and extremely creatively involved - provides healthcare plan reimbursement, sick days and paid vacation days (that grow with your years at the company) and flexibility for doctor's appointments, modified hours, etc. - hard work and talent will be rewarded over time with raises and promotions

Cons

- remote job so you definitely need to be a self starter and okay with working in your living space which can be tough - the company social culture is not as close knit as it would be in an office environment so you need to make a greater effort if you want to connect with your coworkers

Pros

- Worked remotely - Occasionally allowed for change in work hours to accommodate appointments - 3pm release before major holidays.

Cons

- The company is in a constant state of being understaffed so staff is always in a state of being stretched thin and overworked typically being expected to work outside their 10am-7pm work days with no issue and no overtime available. This makes it nearly impossible for staff to have a life outside of work. - Staff is expected to answer any emails and messages right away from supervisors but supervisors will disappear for hours at a time without responding to pressing questions. - The owner of the company will ask for constructive feedback in reviews but will often pushback and turn it on you. - Next to no benefits. - You are only given vacation time after a year with the company which is now almost impossible to get with constantly being laid off. If you are lucky enough to have vacation time to use, you are often guilted/shamed for taking or requesting it. - Expected to work with 2 supervisors that contribute nothing to the teams the head but negative feedback, who are known to change entire pitches the night before or even morning of so any prep work goes out the window, who do not read their emails/chats, who will have you write emails for them to copy & paste to send to producers, and who will be the first to take credit for your ideas and the first to call out your mistakes. - Breaks are frowned upon even though you receive 1 unpaid hour break a day. You are told, "Well, the producers don't take breaks, they're always available" - There is no HR and no proper channel to bring up any grievances within the company. Most supervisors and higher ups "don't feel comfortable" taking it to the owner themselves.
