Pros

Exciting Retail enviroment High praise for a job well done Customer service is #1 Ability to move/train in several departments(although I worked primarily in mens, I was cross-trained in Shoes, Window Coverings, Catalog, Pricing, Visual, & Jewelry) Discount is not terrible at 20%

Cons

Associates are expected to man a register, keep fitting room cleaned out, keep your "Zone" clean, put up returns, and assist/greet ALL customers you come in contact with, even when you are the only associate in your department. Some managers base an associates value on how many credits they earn for every month. Any associate who does not meet goal is "listed" meaning they are placed on a list compiled of the associates who also did not meet goal and are required to undergo "coaching" from managers. Our store lacked a Loss Prevention Manager because we were only a "C" class store therefore merchandise frequently walked out the door.

Pros

If you like working early morning hours and getting off early in the afternoon (which I do) this is a great part-time job. I was a college student when I worked here so it worked perfectly with my schedule. The pay is pretty decent and the people you work with are friendly.

Cons

Only real downside is that it's retail. You're going to run into some rude customers from time to time. There's always work to do and not enough time given to do it sometimes. But as long as you work hard and managers see that you're trying your best there isn't too much pressure put on you.
