Pros

If they employ you at a senior level than probably loads of positives. If you're rubbish at your job than all the better. they seem to reward failure with great gusto and enthusiasm.

Cons

Where do you start? Salary, bonuses, company recognition programmes, training, direction, security, loyalty etc etc.. Its all is pretty laughable. Giving you a yearly bonus, apologising on how small it is whilst ordering you not to discuss it with any other employees about sums it all up really. They believe that the actual honour of working for Intertek far outweighs the cost of general living. Buildings, IT infrastructure and business ideology is all archaic and in need of drastic investment. Everything they do appears to be done on the cheap through fear of upsetting the shareholder. Put it this way, If you had to lodge away on business for them I wouldn't be surprised if they gave you a list of nearby hostels or equipped you with a cardboard box in which to rest your head. They will suck whatever they can get out of you and then dispose of you like an empty chip bag. However, if you are one of those people who like to kiss a little butt (and I mean really kiss butt) you'll probably fit in well. You won't necessarily be financially better off, you'll just have a lot of butt to choose from to kiss!

Pros

Good group of people in local office.

Cons

Stuck in the past. Unwilling to consider updating methods or procedures. "We've done it this way for 30 years and it has worked." Sales relies upon project engineers to do most of their work for them. When volume of work is slow that becomes the engineers responsibility to go find new clients. Can't reliably pay the most basic of utility bills on time. I've seen the power cut off 2x and the gas this past winter.
