Pros
In the eighties, nineties and early aughts, Intermec was a great place to work. The team spirit was strong and this spirit led directly to significant accomplishments. The company grew from less than $100M all the way to $900M in annual revenue. The company truly cared for the employees; profit sharing, company picnics, education benefits, job security, and professional growth opportunities. It was a great crew of people, and was actually a fun place to work.
Cons
The company has changed direction in the last few years. Sure, the whole tech industry has changed direction eg: less profit sharing, job security, and who throws company picnics anymore? However, Intermec’s change is more extreme. It’s disheartening to see the distrust that has developed between management and workers. The mutual commitment between the company and employees is greatly diminished. 90% of the previous management has been let go. The current management is disconnected from the team, and in general, doesn’t get favorable reviews from most quarters.
