Pros
The pay and that is ALL
Cons
You have set breaks where you barely have time to get to the bathroom, get your belt off with your weapon to pee, and be back to your post within 15 mins. You only get 45 mins for chow; which if you don't bring your own food you are SOL. You are not allowed to leave the building to go get food while in uniform. You have to gear down, take off your vest, put on a shirt, jacket, or sweater over top if you do want to leave and get food. Good luck doing all of that and getting back to your post in time. No set schedules, it fluctuates every week and the possibility of you being held over is HIGH so be prepared to work 12+. Do not fret tho because there is NO over-time so you don't have to worry about being held over too many times. You will NEVER see 40 hours in a work week. Be prepared to stand there, staring into space for hours. You are NOT allowed to have your phone on you...at all. You are not allowed to drink coffee or any other fluid other than water (24 oz bottle only....and that means ONE at a time). Hungry? No eating on post either, you better wait until whatever crazy time your set break is. So just starve. They do not care about their employees, they care about the client and what makes THEM look good. My advice? Forget the money, you can find something better that offers over-time and takes care of you. IF you have a history of UTI's this would not be the job for you either (you could always just not drink water the whole shift so you don't have to pee and end up having to hold it). Many of the desk SGTs are a joke and are an insult to the average person's intelligence. I often wonder if the majority are related to Gomer Pyle. The paperwork and "clocking in" is out-dated. It's time to get with the program and advance with technology.
