Pros

Interesting Events, good office location,

Cons

This place is a complete mess, avoid it at all costs. Essentially, its a bunch of hangovers from the 1960s anti-war movement who have never grown up and are completely unwilling to listen to people who are younger than them. IPS is becoming increasingly less relevant each day, no one cares about what their so-called Scholars have to say. Basically, there are a bunch of employee's that have been there for 10+ years and don't do anything productive and force younger employees and interns to do most of their work. They claim to support social justice and want to end income and racial inequality but in reality, they treat the black and POC employees like dirt. No joke, there is a running joke among former POC employees of IPS that POCs burn out after 2 years because of the never-ending stream of microaggressions from senior leadership. The worst part about IPS is that they see that most of the organizing energy and dynamic movements are lead by POCs so they offer fake allyship to to leach off their bigger public profiles and funding opportunities while giving back nothing in return. If you are serious about working in social advocacy and justice avoid IPS at all costs.

Pros

I loved my job at IPS: I was continually challenged intellectually, the work environment was extremely supportive, and the diversity of staff and board members brought strength to the organization.

Cons

The pay was lower than most similar nonprofits.

Pros

There are many great colleagues at IPS.

Cons

Senior leadership at IPS is a train wreck. It has been for years. They know nothing about operations, finance, human resources, team building, or modern fundraising. What they do is: a) blow smoke, b) blow organizational bubbles. Even long-term funders are backing away.
