Pros

+1 star for the coworkers. Everyone has their own experience with the owner and we are regularly reminded we could lose our jobs for doing something he doesn't like. My first week he said that sometimes you can catch me on a bad day and you are gone. I call this the sword of damocles that is constantly over your head while employed here. I was reminded of it three times before I got upset about it. This is what bands the employees together, so the best thing about working here is that most of the employees are unified in their fear of losing their income. The dogs and the coworkers have been the absolute highlights of my experience.

Cons

I don't recommend working here because I do not believe the CEO to be trustworthy. I was offered a position that promised rapid growth in responsibilities and pay, in writing. The responsibilities expanded from recruiting into doing the company's payroll and conducting employee relations. When I asked for more money to compensate for these additionally responsibilities it blew up in my face. He wouldn't meet with me anymore and I was rescheduled to meet with a retained adviser who told me that I had been set up to fail, there is no budget to increase my salary, the term fast is subjective, and that I would be getting a new boss. My new boss was a new part-time consultant. From this point forth the owner stopped speaking to me and I never had a performance review. Over the last 3 months I've been iced out as far as I can tell. Just passing my 6 month mark last week, I was informed I am being laid off and given a new part-time role of 15 hours a week at a lower rate of pay and no benefits.

First, I want to apologize to my team for bringing this person into our organization. We actually could not get him to stay away from the office after he was fired and were very close to pursuing a restraining order. He was coming into the office and hugging people, and made several women extremely uncomfortable. The experience in letting him go was emblematic of his time here. I don't want to address specific points in this review- frankly if he hadn't used his real title I would have thought this was a competitor just making stuff up. This individual was struggling in his career, convinced our leadership that it was no fault of his own, and then showed himself to be extremely volatile. When we tried to part ways in the best way possible, he became vindictive and unprofessional. Nonetheless, on a personal level it's always painful to see someone struggling, and when my company plays a part in that it hurts. I wish this person the best and hope he finds calmer seas for himself.
