Pros
I had the opportunity to work alongside all 3 aspects of the organization—house call, palliative care and hospice. This family owned company has employees that function well within departments and all seem to want to make a difference. The wages are good with excellent benefits. I would definitely work here again in the future, as they do have a genuine passion to help others and a vision to change the future of healthcare. I encourage anyone with compassion to step up to bat and accept a position here, the affect you will have on the lives of the patients is reward enough!
Cons
There are some growing pains within the organization as the family mentality tends to stifle management’s ability to lead at the level that is needed to support growth. The executives enjoy acting as mentors and coaching staff through obstacles; however tend to react negatively to those with opposing views or opinions. This leaves an overall atmosphere of fear in employees saying anything other than what they think execs want to hear due to harsh consequences; and owner denial of the truth. Those with the company long term stated this is nothing new, and unfortunately it has created an excessive turnover rate of staff that can recite the core values, but are not allowed to implement or personalize them based on their own individual talents. However the camaraderie between co-workers makes up for the disconnected management. Eventually they will embrace that to make their vision a reality, they must allow the subject matter experts to do what they are best at, even if that includes differences in opinions, conflicts in attitudes, and accepting that what you want to hear and what you need to hear are typically 2 different things.
