Pros
I interned with Indiana Farmers remotely over the summer in their underwriting department. The internship was very in depth and I spent three weeks each in their personal, farm, and commercial lines areas. Indiana Farmers gave me an in-depth look at the types of risks that they write and educated me on their systems, how to conduct inspections, what to look for in a risk, and how to conduct business as an underwriter. Their staff, including VPs and managers, are all friendly and helpful. Whenever I had a question, I could reach out to anyone in the company and they were willing to give me the answers that I needed. The company culture is great and they even allow their employees to leave work at noon on Fridays! Indiana Farmers cares deeply for their employees and I highly recommend interning/working there.
Cons
My internship was quite systems-based which some interns may not prefer if they are wanting to learn exclusively about the underwriting process but I enjoyed this aspect because I am considering working full-time in their office.
