Do not work here, no matter how desperate you are. I worked at True Communications that later became IGT. In my time, many people were fired without cause and even threatened with lawsuits- again with no cause. Disfunction- Clients are not acquired by team they will working with. These clients are promised unattainable goals, with equally unattainable timelines, and saddled with massive retainer prices. Then the team that will actually work with them is given access and sees the astronomical and unattainable goals set. You are set up to fail and blamed when outlandish and totally impossible KPIs are unmet - bottom line you are set up to fail. When we asked to be included in the acquisition process and to have more realistic KPIs and timelines set, we were denied over and over. Clients were also threatened with lawsuits from time to time. Great way to build business and rapport. Culture- Culture is extremely lacking. You’ll do quizzes that are the next hot trend in leadership and are told this will inform your workflow. Nothing happens. You’ll attend seminars and are told it will be an ethos for how we’ll work moving forward. It won’t be. When you are saddled with endless work and deadlines, you’ll be sent a box and told to bake cookies for a team cookie decorating party on zoom. Wait? Really? With what time. Ethos- PR and marketing efforts are not led strategically. For example, instead of allowing staff time the time to research editors, were were told to create massive lifts and carpet bomb with emails. When media said they weren’t interested, we were told we got a response and to hit them again. We were told to build media lists with say 100 names. Nothing about how qualified the outlet was to cover the brand or product. They are about making money and burning through clients and staff. Not building relationships. Finally, as I sat with a journalist at a company dinner, I was asked about the escapades of one owner’s lifestyle as a swinger. I was told the owner bragged about it at company events and often shared experiences in detail. In the end, how you spend your time is up to you. But work isn’t the time to share this information especially when you’re working to build relationships with media. I don’t talk about my sex life with editors, my expectation was that the same happened at the highest levels of leadership. It did not. Pay- Men are often paid substantially more than women. In many cases upwards of $20k to $50k more. Often, the men earning more worked for women who were paid less. Many of us went years without raises. When we were finally proposed a raise, it was behind the rate of inflation. Those raises were offered by middle management and later vetoed by the owners In conclusion, again- you are not this desperate. Look elsewhere. The promises they are making you will not come to fruition. Run!
