Pros
The company is structured into smaller business units that are expected to "build it/run it" which allows for a tight feedback loop within each team & reduces some of the barriers to building & deploying. There are existing libraries/applications that can be re-used but generally teams are able to operate autonomously to build trading/risk/analytics etc systems that are required for their area of the business. There is very little turnover in the development teams & lots of growth over the past couple of years.
Cons
When on-call you can be contacted at 3am for production issues & will be expected to get up to speed with the problem quickly, possibly having to contact other internal teams or external brokers.
