Pros
I came to IRYStec in 2016 with a background in marketing and graphic design. Start-ups provide a unique working environment because you are given an objective, then left on your own to get the result – no one is looking over your shoulder. I have had the chance to work on branding strategies including logo development, website design, marketing research & surveys, as well as social media campaigns. Having a varied workload is exciting: you’re challenged to learn quickly, continuously picking up new skills along the way. Most importantly, your work is essential: Everyone else is dealing with multiple problems and deadlines, so you’ve got to deliver on the ones they assign to you. My job allows me to play an important role in many aspects and that’s an empowering place to be.
Cons
Working for a start-up involves some risk - not every new business is successful. However, an important point to remember is the valuable experience and skills you gain along the way.
