Pros

I instantly got a 100% raise just by leaving the company, 300% after 3 years out. They were paying about a third of the market rate, and were very happy to do so, you know, "Like family!"

Cons

- Professionally insulted on a daily basis by petty and jealous co-workers - Management doesn't have a clue, friends and family with no tech experience will be the ones in control of your career - Pay is an absolute joke. Beyond insulting. - As time goes on, you will be pressured more and more to not take advantage of any "perks" offered by the company - If you go against the grain in any way, you will be targeted and forced out of your job - If you get attention from the wrong person of the opposite gender, you will be targeted and forced out of your job - You will wait in line to be promoted, promotions are NOT merit based. You'll grow tired of seeing people with no real skills being promoted ahead of you - Yearly pay increases are insultingly low. 1.75-2% of an already poverty level salary - Absolutely no career growth - tech stack is outdated, lots of proprietary software used, absolutely no innovation. You are there to keep the wheel spinning, and that is it. - Management WILL take credit for any of your successes and WILL throw their subordinates under the bus at the drop of a hat - Seriously, middle management is primarily composed of people with no formal education or training. And it shows. - Sycophants get all the perks and catch all the breaks. You'll get nothing but insulted on a daily basis. - Company constantly talks about their profits "It's like a money volcano!" but when your yearly review time comes they say "Sorry. We don't have any money =(" - This is the worst IT job I've ever worked by far. Unprofessional would be an understatement. - Dont work here unless you are desperate. You have been warned!

Pros

Work/life balance Great people to work with on daily basis Ability to work remote (US based) Plenty of development opportunities I've been given the tools I need to do my job and be innovative I have an amazing manager and team that I lead

Cons

I am restricted on where I can hire new employees right now. There are a lot of competing priorities with similar deadlines which can be stressful, but the days go by fast.

Pros

Remote or hybrid capability. Usually a flexible schedule.

Cons

Constant quiet firing. They've figured out how to avoid public disclosures quite well. Every month they're whacking batches of 20~30 employees - esp. if you were in a higher pay band or part of an acquired company. There's constant leadership churn as of late - not that leadership was ever that great, but the clownshow has more makeup on the pigs now. If you were part of an acquired company, the stench of nepotism was constant. Hyland doesn't provide legitimate training or certification assistance for everyone. Their products would fail any sort of security scan by an AI tool too. If you're a customer, buyer beware.
