Promotions not determined by experience or skill; it's who you know. - Self-Employed Consultant Horizon Health Network Employee Review

Pros

Decent Wages and Benefits, Many colleagues are overworked but keep working to help those in need.

Cons

It may be easy to get hired at this company but promotions happen because of who you know in management. People without any managerial experience are promoted sometimes based solely on who they have in their corner. Equal opportunity hiring is a joke, at least in the mental health and addictions side of the network. People with bachelors degrees, just a few years on the job, no real leadership experience and little clinical mental health expertise are promoted above those with master's degrees and actual leadership experience. Guess what that leads to? Incompetence at the management level. It's sad and frustrating, especially since our health care system is in such a crisis. I would never work for this organization again. Don't waste your time here if you want to develop or advance in your career. You will watch many people who are grossly under-qualified move up the ladder before colleagues who actually have common sense, the training and the experience to lead a team of clinicians. If you expect to have competent executives at the helm of the organization who make smart decisions, keep looking. Directors would rather fill management roles with under skilled puppets who do as they ask instead of promoting resourceful, properly educated and competent leaders.

Pros

Meeting kind hearted people and being able to help people.

Cons

Not being able to help people because of hospital policies. Other hospital staff is overworked and it shows through in their attitude. Having different rules and expectations every other day.
