Great, quick & easy tips if it isn’t ridiculously slow. Overall a fun environment & job to have. You don’t have to prepare any food or do much side work. Employee discount on food & merch. Making regulars. Meeting really fun people around the area or traveling & sometimes they become good friends! A lot of my customers worked at places/had skills or connections that came in handy to me because they would give discounts; etc. The competitions are fun & dressing up for holidays. Hooter events are fun & if you’re piercing & tattoo free with an amazing body you have a chance to be in the Hooters Calendar or win Hooter girl of Michigan & participate in bikini contests. Averaging over $20/hr on good days & even more on great ones! A few times a week, if you’re a good waitress with a fun attitude you’ll definitely get $100 or a few $100s as a tip from 1 table. So that added to your overall tips is awesome! The most I made in 1 afternoon shift was just under a grand because of it.
Cons
Over the last few years this location has fallen apart, not to mention everything inside the building including the parking lot of pot holes needs to be updated badly. Pretty unorganized team, no more roller blading or stool rodeo allowed. No more hula hooping. No more trivia nights. No more slinging in orders haha. 2/4 of management are very hard to work with. Sometimes girls you work with & befriend decide to become part time managers because that is allowed & it causes a lot of drama. Being on the floor with catty, lazy females & only a few decent ones. Having to pick up slack. Getting stuff stolen from your bag in the back while you’re working. No changing rooms, so an entire shift of girls have to undress & change into uniform in a small bathroom that only has 3 stalls & pray customers don’t walk in on you. You have to buy tights now instead of them being free to Hooter Girls. You only get ONE uniform so when you’re working 5-6 days a week with 1 WHITE shirt it’s impossible, so you have to buy extras which used to be given. Have or buy & complete ServSafe which isn’t covered anymore. No tattoos allowed period unless you want to glop makeup on it until it’s invisible. No piercings or jewelry allowed. Not even a Bobby Pin is allowed in your hair, it must be styled & down. Full face of makeup for each shift or you’re sent home. No nail color, only white tips allowed. You have to sign a paper that states you won’t gain weight & if you do, you’re on weight probation for a month; if you don’t drop the pounds you’re fired. No breaks unless you work a double open to close then you can quickly eat with a jacket or hoodie on to cover your uniform or else you have to eat in the dirty kitchen. If you smoke, forget it. No smoke breaks because you’re a Hooters Girl in uniform & must “keep up the image” The list goes on but I’ll stop :)
