Pros

It's great to be able to help the elderly community. You can do it for the love of the population who needs assistance. Some clients were nice and really appreciated the services.

Cons

The salary is less than retail/ fast food workers make. You cannot do this job as full-time and expect to make ends meet. If you do it as part-time, consider it a volunteer/community service because if you need the money you are better off working a higher paying part-time job. The hours aren't guaranteed and you do not know where you will be placed or with who. Sometimes you take longer commuting than the time spent with the client. You spend more on gas than you get paid. The shifts also vary in length. Sometimes you'll have an overnight shift which is worth the travel. Other times you may just have a 2 hour shift. The service you provide varies. Some clients need help with physical therapy or going to doctor's appointments. Others may just want someone to clean and cook. At that point you are an underpaid maid and cook. One client just wanted cleaning. So instead of providing care for the client directly, you are a bargain maid making less than half of what a maid makes. The management is also less than caring about your needs. If you can't make it to a shift they push you to find a way to get there or have someone else cover the shift. High management turnover as they were constantly on-call. No career opportunities and no skills learned.

Pros

Matched clients with same interests

Cons

Not good scheduling manager HR lied When they said $1 per mile when transporting clients, they did NOT reimburse at that rate Payroll/paystubs unclear to intentionally confuse caregivers CarePros who have been loyal to the company have been shat on with lower wages than new-hire employees. They allow clients to be racially biased and hateful towards their caregivers NO BENEFITS and things they advertise are not true! No real flexible schedule that they promote and promise in the job ads NO policy written for things that are unclear for example being on call phones are not provided and time is not paid for unless actively providing cares Management will tell lies to the families about why you don't want to be with a certain client every day of every week and will blame it on them being a difficult client when communicating to the family when in reality schedules and availability with classes does not align. Even with proper notice, the scheduling manager will have attitude and try to convince you that you are the one with the problem even though she does not care to take the time to fully understand each persons preferences or availabilities.
