Pros
What is important to understand when working here, is that it is (to my understanding) a franchise. This will explain the drastic variation between reviews. I worked in Connecticut under Adam and Adina Heavenrich. My experience in working this job was very positive. I always felt supported and respected by my employers, as well as by the manager who was later hired on. All interaction was positive and professional.
Teaching magic and aviation, was a ton of fun. It was easy, practical stuff that many children enjoyed. The pay was fair, given the nature of working for one hour per day. And I felt like I was generously compensated whenever I was asked to do more than just my typical classes (like filling in last-minute, hosting summer camps, or doing unusual events).
The classes themselves varied, based on whichever children I happened to be teaching. But the work felt worthwhile, even at those times when it wasn't necessarily fun. All in all, it is a job I would recommend to anyone who enjoys teaching younger students.
Cons
The biggest cons are the same ones you would expect any time you work with children in a teaching setting, especially at schools. Children can be difficult. Parents can be difficult. Staff you must interact with in schools (who do not work for Hobby Quest) can be difficult. However, with any problems I encountered, I felt sufficiently supported and like I could always call for help.
