Pros

* Pay was good, remote collaboration pretty effective. * As others mentioned, benefits are pretty nice! Half day Friday once a month, yearly company retreat that's fully covered. * Some people are really nice but they are in the minority.

Cons

* They did demotions that aren't based on individual performance at the same time as layoffs in February 2025. Imagine losing your title for no reason! * So many unstated expectations. Because the company isn't accustomed to bringing new people in AND because it has a culture where trust is earned(as opposed to given from the start), that means the only way you can learn about team processes & expectations is through failing. * There's a huge pressure to become profitable from investors but leadership doesn't have a vision or path forward so the company tries a bunch of things, none of which fall into place. I'm sure the strategy of demoting people & reducing headcount when engineering was already spread thin will turn out great! * "Everyone here has tenure for 5-10 years & retention rates are high" is a red flag! Didn't know it at the time of joining, but the statistic for newly hired employees is terrible in comparison. Majority of people doesn't make it past 1 year, either quitting, getting fired or already secretly job searching. * Product sector is not held accountable for their mistakes. Despite engineering building what's asked of us, ultimately we're the ones to blame when projects PMs pick don't provide business value. * Speaking of product, there were times when hard deadlines were not communicated to the eng teams. And then eng was to blame for not making the deadline. * I commonly would chat with other engineers at the company in terms of how bad things are getting & how it will likely be downhill from here. People don't post negative reviews here enough. * Company kept cutting healthcare benefits. I stayed there for 2 years, so 2 times they got cheaper & cheaper plans offered.

Pros

Hint Health is by far the best company I've ever worked for. They put a lot of effort to ensure their culture puts people first, and this is demonstrated from the top down. The co-founders are both very passionate individuals who are trying to bring affordable healthcare to everyone. The company offers a lot of perks; for example, every second Friday is a half-day, at a minimum you have to take at least 10 days offer. You are encouraged to take more, but management monitor your vacation to ensure you are taking at least 10 days, they offer unlimited PTO and they are true to it, also they observed a lot of holidays.

Cons

Can't think of any at this time.

Pros

-The people: This is a positive, supportive and honest environment. It's a small company and every person has a voice and matters. There is an emphasis on getting to know each other as people, and a strong, open culture on Slack. Despite being small there are two active employee resource groups that have direct lines of communication and influence to company leadership (a Womenbies' group and Diversity and Inclusion group) -The mission: The company is serious about improving primary care both for patients and clinicians. If you're not passionate about that before you start, you will be within a couple weeks! -The work/life balance: Start ups have the reputation of having super young workforces and grueling hours. This is not the case for Hint. Employees have hobbies, children, family obligations that they prioritize just as much as work. -The growth: The company is growing steadily and responsibly. It provides stability and steadiness. -Strong remote work culture: Even pre-pandemic, the team is expert and totally comfortable operating over Slack & Zoom. We have employees in 4 continents and 7 time zones and somehow it works. -The transparency: Leadership is extremely and unusually transparent about company strategy, financials, issues, and opportunities. It's a sea change from working in a large company.

Cons

-Diversity: This is something the company is actively trying to address, but there's a lack of racial and ethnic diversity among employees. This year the company has instituted new hiring policies and will be tracking progress in this area, so hopefully we can make a change here. -Lean team: Part of the responsible growth mentioned above is keeping costs in line and operating with a lean team. While we are hiring in 2021, there's not a lot of slack and everyone carries a lot of responsibility.
