Pros

Your peers and immediate manager will most likely be exceptional. Everyone at that level really wants to succeed. And will go out of their way to get you what you need to feel successful in your role.

Cons

High priority is placed on sprint ceremonies and metrics. Burning down to zero is critical, if you don’t want your team to be flagged, so many teams simply undercommit to what they think they can accomplish. Equity and pay seemed generous at first. But in 16 months, equity share valuation has gone from $150 to $75 to now just over $20. That windfall profit you thought you were going to get in your offer letter is now worth a fraction of what it was - and that’s assuming they even make it to IPO. if that doesn’t happen in 2023-2024, they’ll need more cash, which will dilute even further. To save on cash, they’re now rolling out new pay location tiers, and bands. In the middle of the year, you can arbitrarily be worth 10% less to them then when you were hired, simply because of where you live.

Pros

coworkers, some benefits, not much else

Cons

Low pay, no movement for career growth, AI implementation training disguised as an improvement when you can see the support teams are being asked to train the AI in order for it to replace them, gaslighting from management that everything is fine when customers are extremely unhappy and only the front line workers have to deal with that anger day in and out, as others have reported critical thinking and feedback with genuine process improvements are not ignored, which would be bad, but literally punished. I am only here because I haven't been fired yet and I'm looking for something else in a challenging job market
