Pros

I have been working in the hospitality business for a very long time, and have always tried to improve myself. To this day, I am stilling constantly finding ways to improve. I have worked for small corporation as well as very large hotel industry, despite having a very busy personal life. I have a large family, and its been a challenge trying to keep raise them and work on myself, but nevertheless I push myself better myself harder and to show my children children how to be a role model, and an exceptional person. I want them to believe that when you work harder than anyone else, you will be acknowledge and rewarded, but unfortunately that is not always true for me. My husband always told me that the hard worker always works harder and the slacker gets rewarded, but I could not accept that. From those large companies, I only asked how can I improve myself only to find disappointment. I worked in reservation, sales, front desk, concierge, Dining Room and housekeeping departments. They told me that I needed higher degree, but even though I went back to college and earned my Bachelor’s Degree in Hotel Management, there was still nothing. I did not become a disgruntled employee because of this, but, on the contrary, my hotel guests and co-workers loved me. I would always go above and beyond every single day, like a bright sunshine, always there, never calling out, but ,unfortunately storms come. Thankfully my husband is always to weather my storm, and was able to pull me through even when I started to doubt myself. I called this odyssey, my Cinderella story, because what I like to call a prince in a fairytale story, that comes on a big horse to rescue me from this hellish environment. There has only been one company called Highgate Hotels that saw what many others chose to ignore, or did not care to see. This new company Highgate purchased the hotel that I was working at, and for the first time Highgate did what no other company did before. They listened. Not only did they do that, but they also asked me what would I like to do. I responded, saying that I need an internship, and I would like to do that in New York City. They did just that. I was able to do an Internship in the Housekeeping Department right there, in Times Square New York City, and that was like the prince coming to me with my slipper that I left at the Ball. I was able to demonstrate my talent, my drive, highly energetic with a fun, enthusiastic and motivating personality, very flexible individual with extensive customer service experience. Today I am a Front Office Manager at Highgate Hotels and I love my job…..thank you for listing and for letting me make my mark…..Thank you Highgate, from a Pocono Princess :-)

Cons

Pros

Not applicable , the company’s bad reputation is not just rumors

Cons

This company has absolutely no flexibility for employee requests however you are expected to work 7 days a week , 15-18 hour days. Medical restrictions and disabilities don’t mean anything. No compromise on their part. No recognition, No compensation, No mental health support … They will burn you out, not care how their workplace tactics affect you or your work moving forward. They will then set you up to fail then use it as a reason to start the process of getting rid of you. No empathy for people. They refuse to accommodate requests for certain people but then others, no problem. Discrimination & Favoritism, I have never met a group with such evil intentions. All their claims about employees first are farthest from the truth. They only follow policies when it is convenient for them and depending on who it’s for. It’s all about who you know , not what you know Bottom line - the company is a total scam. The less you do the better. The excuses and practices for over compensating upper management is a joke.
