Pros

These are just my observations and experiences. I do not know if all employees have had the same experience. - The CEO is top notch. - The mission of the company is worthwhile, and the healthcare industry is rewarding - Pay and Benefits are great - The team members I have had are great people - Sales are going well, and I believe we will continue to grow as a company - Some travel was required pre-COVID, but was not excessive - It is easy to maintain a good work life balance

Cons

These are just my observations and experiences. I do not know if all employees have had the same experience. - I have never had a performance review during my time at Health Catalyst. - I have not been promoted during my time at Health Catalyst. - I have applied for other positions within Health Catalyst, and have not been selected for any. I have never received feedback post-interview. - My job title is not indicative of the work I do. I have had very few opportunities to do analytics. My job title is very misleading. I am more of a BI Developer I would say. I wish I was actually doing analytics. - I have never worked on the same subject area more than once. If I work on a Diabetes project for example, I do not expect to be part of another Diabetes project at another client. - The direction of my sub organization (Analytic Services) is really unclear to me. It feels like it is also unclear to the Analytic Services Leadership. - The tools Health Catalyst uses for database development are great for clients, but are not great for developers. They promote bad database design and erode skills. I am a good Health Catalyst developer, but my actual skills are deteriorating. - I wish I had moved on from Health Catalyst a few years ago, after getting my feet wet in the Healthcare space. I believe my personal development would be more advanced had I done so.

Thank you for this review and feedback, and for having contributed to our company these past 3-4 years. Thank you also for sharing and affirming the positives that have been part of your experience. I also appreciate you sharing the cons in your experience at Health Catalyst, which highlight that we have meaningful work to do to strive to improve. I'm sorry that it hasn't worked out yet to be promoted, and I acknowledge that we as leaders could do a better job of clearly articulating our strategy, including our services strategy. We'll talk about this today during our all team member meeting. We also definitely want to enable an environment where team members feel that they are continuously learning and developing new skills and capabilities, not seeing their skills atrophe. We're investing in meaningful training through Health Catalyst University, and we're also investing in advanced data platform capabiliteis as part of 2021 planning investments. I hope these will make a positive difference for you. Best, Dan

Pros

Great Talent & Culture: The people here are highly capable, collaborative, and committed to helping each other succeed. The partnership between onshore and offshore teams works well and is a real strength. There’s a culture of grit and stability that has helped the company navigate multiple major transitions over the years. Mission-Critical Engineering: The work involves complex data infrastructure that requires deep technical expertise. It can be demanding, but seeing these systems run successfully and support real-world operations is consistently rewarding.

Cons

Wage Compression and Retention Risk: Compensation for tenured and high-performing staff has not kept pace with the market for specialized data engineering and support leadership. In practice, tenure can feel undervalued or even penalized. This creates risk around losing institutional knowledge and operational continuity. Stagnant Career Progression: Contrary to stated expectations, strong performance ratings do not consistently translate into meaningful, market-aligned compensation growth. The process of how compensation is benchmarked lacks clarity in practice, obscuring how compensation decisions are made and what is required to advance.
