Pros

I have enjoyed working at Health Catalyst for over six years now. I work with the most remarkable team, and I have had some of the most extraordinary bosses of my career. At Health Catalyst, we work hard, expect a lot, support one another, and in tough times, we rally together. We celebrate success, and we find appropriate times to pause and reflect or pause and play. I am grateful for the tremendous support from my current boss and team. Despite the limited growth opportunities in my field, I have been promoted multiple times. I value the confidence that my peers and leaders have in my abilities. I have continually been given new and interesting challenges that enable me to stretch, learn, and grow. Over the years, I have seen the executive leadership team go through its own growing pains. There was a time when I was bothered by some practices that seemed to foster a culture of fear. However, I am grateful that I stuck it out. I can’t imagine a better executive team, nor can I imagine a more genuine CEO than the one that Dan Burton is today. He sincerely cares about team members and the health of the organization as a whole. Through his leadership, we are making great strides towards diversity and inclusion, and I love seeing how it is prioritized. Work-life balance is a priority at Health Catalyst. From the top down, it is repeatedly promoted and encouraged. However, I know that many team members struggle to find that balance. It is one of those “easier said than done” types of things — especially for the ‘hard-working’ types they hire. It is a good thing that Health Catalyst provides an ample number of holidays — including a week off for Independence Day, Thanksgiving, and from Christmas to New Years.

Cons

I honestly cannot think of anything.

Thank you for your review and feedback, and for sticking with Health Catalyst for the past 6+ years! Thank you also for being willing to be promoted multiple times, to be a leader at Health Catalyst, and to lead such a critical function at our company, one that can be a 'catalyst' for our team members' development and success and for our clients' success as well. I appreciate also the feedback regarding work-life balance challenges. This is an ongoing challenge and balancing act, and one we will never be finished with, so we'll keep inviting team members and their managers to strive to find this balance and hope that we can provide a flexible and supportive infrastructure to enable this. Thank you for your kind and generous words also, I will work to try to live up to them! Best, Dan

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. I appreciate the thoughtful recognition of our collaborative culture and the meaningful work the team does together. How we work together matters just as much as what we do. Our operating principles and cultural attributes remain foundational. To address your concerns about processes and roles, as the organization evolves, we’re prioritizing clarity in these areas to better support teams. There’s real momentum building right now, and the work ahead is meaningful. I’m grateful for you and the role you play here, and I’m excited about what we’re building together.

Pros

Great Talent & Culture: The people here are highly capable, collaborative, and committed to helping each other succeed. The partnership between onshore and offshore teams works well and is a real strength. There’s a culture of grit and stability that has helped the company navigate multiple major transitions over the years. Mission-Critical Engineering: The work involves complex data infrastructure that requires deep technical expertise. It can be demanding, but seeing these systems run successfully and support real-world operations is consistently rewarding.

Cons

Wage Compression and Retention Risk: Compensation for tenured and high-performing staff has not kept pace with the market for specialized data engineering and support leadership. In practice, tenure can feel undervalued or even penalized. This creates risk around losing institutional knowledge and operational continuity. Stagnant Career Progression: Contrary to stated expectations, strong performance ratings do not consistently translate into meaningful, market-aligned compensation growth. The process of how compensation is benchmarked lacks clarity in practice, obscuring how compensation decisions are made and what is required to advance.
