Pros

--Executive leadership that is extraordinarily transparent, invested in team members, and wise about our mission and the direction of the corporation. --Strong benefits structure and work flexibility. Great team culture—I get to work with smart people every day, who care about our common mission, respect each other, and share their expertise.

Cons

As we grow, I believe we may face some challenges in finding the right balance between standardization and flexibility/agility. This is not a “con” for working at Health Catalyst, just an acknowledgement of a challenge going forward.

Thank you for your thoughtful review, and for your contributions to our technology leadership over the past 3+ years. Thank you also for your constructive feedback around the importance of balance between efficiency and flexilbility/autonomy. This is a tricky balance to maintain, and we don't always get this balance right. The example you gave of standardizing on lower-cost/free tools that may not be as effective is a good one. I'd be happy to visit more with you, if you'd like, to better understand your particular situation. We'll try not to over-focus on cost savings and as a result create additional burdens for our team members. Thanks again for your review and for your contributions to the company these past 3+ years! Best, Dan

Pros

Great Talent & Culture: The people here are highly capable, collaborative, and committed to helping each other succeed. The partnership between onshore and offshore teams works well and is a real strength. There’s a culture of grit and stability that has helped the company navigate multiple major transitions over the years. Mission-Critical Engineering: The work involves complex data infrastructure that requires deep technical expertise. It can be demanding, but seeing these systems run successfully and support real-world operations is consistently rewarding.

Cons

Wage Compression and Retention Risk: Compensation for tenured and high-performing staff has not kept pace with the market for specialized data engineering and support leadership. In practice, tenure can feel undervalued or even penalized. This creates risk around losing institutional knowledge and operational continuity. Stagnant Career Progression: Contrary to stated expectations, strong performance ratings do not consistently translate into meaningful, market-aligned compensation growth. The process of how compensation is benchmarked lacks clarity in practice, obscuring how compensation decisions are made and what is required to advance.
