Pros
I started working at Harvie with the mindset that I would get a little bit of experience and then explore another career path. I have been here now for 2.5 years and have a hard time envisioning myself leaving.
My largest draw to Harvie is the mission & the group of people all working to advance that mission. It is incredibly fulfilling to speak to a small producer & hear how much impact Harvie has had on their business. I believe that we are truly changing the food system both in the every day work & the long term vision of the company.
One of my favorite people operations parts of Harvie is the 1-1 management structure. Each week, every employee has a set time with their manager to discuss anything they want. I sit down for an hour every week and am able to have a personal check-in, flag things to leadership, or bring up any crazy idea that I have. This is not a standard at other organizations & I continued to be baffled by the impact that this has had on my career.
I feel that I have a voice, I have a lot of autonomy, and my individual and professional development has been incredibly supported.
Cons
Harvie is still a very young company, and sometimes that shows!
There have been some financial difficulties along the way, but leadership is open to feedback & has worked tirelessly to build a company that is financially stable.
