Pros
Technical support and applications support are/were some of the best in any industry. Solid business that is well respected in Project Management and Engineering. Fair pay and decent benefits but falling behind in the industry where competition offers high pay and high benefit models. Core business leaders outside of the IT structure still has strong leadership and is moving the company forward towards significant market growth in the coming years. IT managers who are great at talking in circles.
Cons
IT leadership from the CIO down to the support line managers are incompetent and should not be managing people let alone be allowed to steer the future of the companies once awe inspiring technology. Corruption among IT managers and leadership who hire(d) in friends at higher titles and pay while demoting or squashing seasoned support and solutions staff. Promoting managers and directors (yes men) based on friendships with no management (people)skills or competency . A once incredible support team structure is now muddled and failing miserably. Support metrics are being "designed" to squash staff and show non-existant gains and improvements. Business seemingly oblivious to the "hijacking" of their IT and support structure(s).
