Pros

Guerrilla has a work environment where things are usually comfortable. The New office is nice, although it's a little over the top and corporate. I think the old building had more personality in my opinion. I have worked at several companies with a more toxic culture and guerrilla is a good place to work at in this regard. Most people are kind and respectful and there is plenty of diversity and that is an Important quality to me. I'd say as long as things go well and you don't stick your neck out too far you could settle at Guerrilla.

Cons

The problem with guerrilla is that it seems to be very surface level comfortable. The official hierarchy is very rigid, but unofficially, I guess it is not? What I mean by this is that there have been employees being put into situations taking care of teams and being a lead informally, even though that is not in their job description and they don't get matching pay for it. Their actual promotion does not happen or happens years later? The wages are comparable with dutch standards but low for industry standards and that makes living in Amsterdam hard and to add on top of that there is little compensation for inflation. Guerrilla seems very stuck in the past on multiple levels, from pipeline and outsourcing most of the creative work leaving the in-house teams with scraps, to low pay and the impossibility of growth. I think the higher ups do not seem to realize that skilled workers are in high demand. Hr and management try to put a very "nice air" and in general this works however when your situation changes or you need something specific and suddenly you can't be helped. Office politics exists just like in any other company. The dutch are said to be so very direct, but in my experience there are definitely hidden tactics being played here. All these issues promote a settling-culture. People stay at Guerrilla if they feel like " this is good enough and life is comfortable here" People who want to push and excel leave for opportunities with better pay, more creative workflows and expression or opportunities for growth.

Pros

Situated in one of the most "liveable" places on earth, Amsterdam. Surrounded by a sociable, liberal and relaxed culture where you can cycle to work, hang out in parks or nice bars and catch great live music at any day. You get to work on some really awesome projects with really talented people (seriously, there's almost nobody who work here which I didn't respect their talent). If you have a strong willpower you can convince them to do almost anything, or you can do things yourself, show how awesome it looks. And they would make it a part of them game. They are trying really hard to improve.

Cons

Guerrilla senior management is almost exclusively composed of the same people that started the company, back when "everyone was in on it". This is not necessarily a bad thing, but where the company has now come so many years later, it really is. They still believe they have flat hierarchy, which they absolutely does not have. In fact, it's unclear to me if they even know how the hierarchy is composed. This cause for many people massive pain and disgruntle. Example, you could be tasked to do work on something for weeks, taking full responsibility for it (while being a junior). Just to have your work cut before it's even been reviewed. Just because one person didn't agree with another and changed the design behind their back. Salary is also not very competitive, especially if you want to live in central Amsterdam, where apartment prices are very high unless you feel like sharing (think ~1100 euro/month rent).
