Pros

None whatsoever, nothing comes to mind.

Cons

Where do I start? Unrealistic expectations of management for production, which is then passed down to the workers. Increasingly long hours and when those hours are set, management routinely expects employees to work even longer. My advice to any employee of Group 1 is to do as little as possible because if you do ANYTHING more than what your job title suggests then you will surely be expected to do just that forever and it now becomes a part of your job title. If you don't do "it" anytime afterwards you will be looked down upon as if you are not doing you job! By the way, don't to be paid for anything extra you do...forget about it. There is an incredible amount of turnover in this company. Often times key personnel are let go or just leave on their own due to frustration or dissatisfaction and these positions are left unfilled for long periods of time, creating yet more inefficiency, frustration and eventually angry customers. Then Group 1 executives and "big-shots" come down on management for not having high enough customer satisfaction!-GO FIGURE! I have worked for Group 1 over 10 years and each time there were changes in management the employees were told that a "review" process is now going to be put in place so all employees can be reviewed and salary increases can be considered. To this day there have never been ANY reviews;ever. Believe me;if you expect a manager to come to you and give you a raise then you're dreaming! You have to beg for one and they are typically around 50 cents to $1 an hour, and this is after several years if you even get it. New mechanics trying to break into the field-don't even bother! It has been my experience that you will be promised the world and receive very little in the form of training, supervision and increases in salary.

Pros

There are unfortunately no pros of being a technician at this corporation when compared to other OEM dealers.

Cons

Group1 is a publicly traded company, this means they are only concerned with their bottom line. High paying jobs are funneled to low pay techs in order to bump up effective labor rate. When the stock price goes down they terminate people. There are an intense number of corporate policies and rules that you would not otherwise find elsewhere, that make your life as a technician harder, these policies are also set by people with 0 experience in the field. Everybody is paid just enough to survive, I have seen multiple techs with families that need to have a roommate to get by. There are so many terrible policies that all of the good technicians ultimately left for the most part. This company is just as bad if not worse than automation or lithia. Company advertises a 4 day work week an then makes you work 5-6. DO NOT WORK FOR GROUP 1
