Pros
There are some colorful individuals at this company. The sales team knows how to have fun, the techies are interesting, marketing is up to par, and the support guys are quite dedicated. The management has been historically the weakest part of the equation but with the recent acquisition, things might change.
Cons
You should consider a position with Granicus sales only if you're financially independent and you don't really need the money. So, if your spouse wants you to get out of the house and spend more time with people or if you have a hefty trust fund, give them a call. This company plays in a tough local government market. The sales cycles are long. The deals are usually small (think in the tens of thousands). The implementations are tough. Your commissions will always be in arrears and you will find yourself unable to walk away from what you're owed. The tech leadership at this company hovers somewhere around zero. Questionable decisions, like building our own App Store for this niche market, are often made. You will find yourself shaking your head a lot. But, it can be a fun place if you're fresh out of college and you dislike technologies that 90% of the rest of the country is using, like Windows, .NET, Java, SQL Server, Oracle, etc. Instead, you will get to play with the latest fads. Consider a career with Granicus product team if you need to "find your place" and you like to hang out and play with things like Ruby and Chef. The salaries here are often below market. Many people stay simply because they like their colleagues. The CEO, the CFO, and the VP of Sales have recently departed, but the CTO is still clinging on, which is rather unfortunate for this troubled but potentially promising company.
