Pros
Granicus is filled with hard-working people who are committed to serving the public – they truly believe in the work and the products. With four main offices each in a different time zone, flexibility is built into the work, so you can do it anywhere at any time. It’s also a team that likes to have fun – at least once a month there’s an office-wide event (and it’s actually worth attending). No shortage of snacks or drinks for daily consumption, not uncommon for there to be office beer/wine/etc., and Friday breakfasts aren’t to be missed.
Cons
Compensation was on the low side for a tech company, and the benefits were good but not great (health insurance was generally affordable but it went through a small company that was very easy to reach but had clunky processes). The team I was on went through many changes during my tenure, including new leadership. While this provided some needed focus on improving the bottom line, it also came with plenty of negatives. Many members of the team found themselves suddenly getting the cold shoulder from previously accessible leadership. Within months, there was also significant turnover as, one by one, I watched several of my coworkers get not-so-subtle suggestions they find work elsewhere or face HR hurdles and potentially be terminated (and I saw the Slack messages and emails to prove it). Not wanting to eventually end up in the crosshairs, I eventually conducted my own job search and left.
