Pros
- Some very detailed/complicated sets. It's cool to be a part of creative projects in upscale settings.
- I like some of the systems they have in place, like the binders make things easy on-site, as someone who wasn't involved in any of the planning for events.
- Some of the regulars are cool people.
- If this is your first AV job, you may get sucked in and turned into a lifer.
- They bring cases of water bottles to every gig which is cool. Also a meal is often provided.
Cons
- Some very detailed/complicated sets. Building some of the designs is a PITA.
- Almost cult-like vibe from the managers and core employees.
- It's not a company you can use to fill in gaps in your schedule with. You either commit and take all the gigs, or you get left behind.
- They will try to book you like 2 months in advance for a half day and if you turn down too much of it they will phase you out. I get it, I'd be fine booking like a full week of day rates with a company months in advance, but just a single day that far ahead can end up losing you a lot of opportunity money.
- Annoying use of specialized terminology for almost everything.
- Orientation was a waste of time.
- Not the best reputation in the bay area from past employees.
- Sometimes too many people wearing the "project manager" hat.
