Pros

What sets Goodwater apart isn't just the caliber of work but the caliber of people. The culture here is intentional. Leadership puts real thought into hiring, and it shows. The managing partners are hands-on and deeply involved in investments, bringing a level of genuine engagement that trickles through the whole team. Yes, the work is demanding, and things can get stressful, but there's a real sense of balance and mutual respect that keeps it sustainable. At the end of the day, the people here are authentic. They care about doing great work, and they care about each other. If you're someone who thrives in a high-performance, high-integrity environment, Goodwater is one of those places.

Cons

VC means the work rarely pauses, which means markets don't take days off, and neither does the deal flow/upkeep. That said, when the team is firing on all cylinders (and, at Goodwater, it usually is), the load is shared well, and the challenge stays on the right side of engaging rather than overwhelming.

Pros

Goodwater is on a great mission to help empower exceptional entrepreneurs to change the world for good. The teams at Goodwater across investing and engineering are clearly mission aligned and here to solve big problems!

Cons

Move at lightning speed which is fun at times, but can be stressful or result in tech debt.

Pros

- we are mission driven: to empower exceptional entrepreneurs everywhere - we have a compelling vision - to measurably improve the lives of 5B people - we try to live our core values every day. - we are a a real team - this is not common in venture; the founders are so committed to that idea that they even eschew ego-awards such as Midas List, because they themselves won't take individual deal attribution - we are the rare (only!?) venture firm that has actual problems of scale, which makes the problems we're all working on fun and interesting. - we are committed to DEI - added a Chief People Officer and DEI is part of the 5 part people strategy, - benefits are generous - legend has it that when the CFO was selecting benefits for the company, the founder (Chi-Hua) said "just pick the most generous benefits possible"

Cons

- after COVID we've remained pretty distributed, and while I think this is OK, sometimes it can feel more difficult to know and engage with my colleagues - fast growth leads to an occasionally chaotic environment - i've been in tech, so i've seen this before, but some of us haven't and that chaotic feeling, while for me is fun, for others might be stressful.
