Pros

Glossier has an undeniable magic and is beloved among their loyal customers. The company really values their fan base and its inspiring to see so much work focused around this community. Great perks such as free healthcare, Class Pass, Citibike, and generous vacation time. Product / Packaging, Supply Chain, Retail, People Ops, Legal, and Sales are great teams where you can grow along with wonderful and supportive colleagues who are all doing great work together. Transparency through the form of company wide Town Halls and All-Hands presentations monthly. Despite what you will read below, there are some really great people who work at this company. There are a lot of mixed reviews regarding Emily, but I personally think she's come a long way in terms of leadership fuels the company with inspiration. Nice office in a great neighborhood. Company on-boarding is thorough and well organized from the People Ops team. Unfortunately this is rarely the case on a departmental basis.

Cons

Working at Glossier has many great perks, but there are also many drawbacks. Emily's vision is quite inspiring, the community of consumers is amazing, and the brand voice is powerful, but at the center of it is an extremely toxic workplace. Mid-senior level management is for the most part incompetent and there are many teams who fuel on negativity. Gossip and putting others down is the norm, teams speak negatively of the founder's ideas and leadership, and people constantly speak over each other in meetings. Creative, Brand, and Marketing teams are mostly toxic. Best to be an Instagram influencer, ego-driven, a model, come from an even more toxic workplace, already have friends on the team, or enter at a high-level position if you are considering joining. Collaboration with most of these individuals is difficult as most of them seem to be quite un-happy. You will not always encounter friendly faces walking down the hallways or sitting across from you in conference rooms. The cliques are unfortunately very real. Managers are often experienced in their field but unexperienced in how to manage others. Many have way too many direct reports and cannot provide enough support to their teams. There is a problematic lack of trust amongst employees resulting in information silos, selective sharing, confusing overlap of responsibilities, and general inefficiency. Communication is messy as the company is just starting to learn how to properly share information internally. Very Slack heavy culture, which adds to the mess, and most people overly use Slack as a distraction during meetings. The wifi is abominable.
