Pros
Like all companies that have been around for this long, there are high point and low points. Many of the reviews I've seen here from a couple years ago come from a low point, and does a poor job of reflecting the current state of the company. Since I started, I have seen a real effort to expand both upper and middle management. This has given everyone a far greater sense of direction for both themselves, and for the company as a whole. At the same time, there is a clear increase in recognition and positive feedback from management. The effect these two changes have had on the rest of the team has been remarkable. Within the office, there is a clear sense of being on a team, and working within a collaborative environment towards a common goal. Excellent training resources are provided to us, giving us the ability to grow our skills and keep up with the trends in our industry. There is true excitement for the future plans of GigeNET, unlike anything I have seen at any previous job.
Cons
It would be nice to see the benefit offerings reviewed and revised. The health care plans are a bit expensive -- but that may just be a sign of the times. Healthcare costs have skyrocketed everywhere. That said, I've never paid so much for single coverage. Vacation days are standard - can't complain, but I feel sick days are a bit tight (2 per year) and company holidays are minimal (6 per year). US average is about 8 sick days and 7-9 company holidays per year.
