Pros

This was my first job out of school. I had a lot of kind, hardworking co-workers (travel account executives that have been at the company for years) that I enjoyed working with.

Cons

I had very scary, unprofessional experiences while working here. The most recent review below my review was written the exact day (April 2021) I was laid off, in hopes of covering up what I experienced here. I would never classify Gerber Tours as an "amazing opportunity", and here are a few examples of why. While working with Gerber's subsidiary company that you work with daily in Marketing, a co-worker would call me multiple times after-hours on my personal cell phone and demand that I tell her I respect her. There was one phone call with this co-worker in the summer of 2020 around 6:00 pm EST that lasted an hour and she only had negative things to say. She mentioned she waited until after I was home from work to call me, so I wouldn't tell the CEO about our conversation. She told me how her other co-workers disliked working with me because of my age and inexperience (I was literally right out of college). This co-worker also told me that because of my young age, I should not have the right to share my opinion, as no one cares. Specifically, other employees "have children", and therefore should not have to listen to my suggestions. This was so discouraging for someone who had just graduated. Aside from my experience with a co-worker contacting me after-hours, I was also asked to disclose who I voted for by the Gerber Tours President in the presidential election, and soon after this, the President told another senior-level employee who I voted for. I felt extremely uncomfortable discussing politics in the office. I was laid off shortly after this conversation, within a week. Another member of the leadership team would go around asking workers their political opinions and call them "idiots" if they did not agree with her. During the pandemic, I was given zero benefits and zero paid days off. The pay is also below average. Overall, stay away from Gerber Tours at all costs.

Pros

- Holidays off. - Summer hours. - Occasional parties. - Extremely dedicated, hard working employees.

Cons

- No growth; no opportunity. - No structure. - No raises; low pay with high stress. - Clear favoritism. - High turnover. - No recognition or appreciation of employees. -Extremely minimal travel benefits (often only offered to select employees). - No lunch break- employees must eat lunch at their desk (this is illegal?). - No explanation of how employees are eligible for a bonus. - Employees are not clearly told how many vacation, sick or personal days they are eligible for. When management is asked it is completely avoided and not allowed to be put in writing. - Asked to work on the weekends during "busy season" in exchange for a day off- never offered overtime (does not even exist at this company). - The food, drinks, etc. for the occasional parties as mentioned above was always provided by the hardworking employees themselves, not management. - Extremely toxic work environment. - Poor communication and zero transparency. - Management is EXTREMELY unprofessional and rude.
