Pros

I had a nice commute

Cons

I was told salespeople are making $100K in the interview, to find out that people are going months without a commission check. HR told me that I employees are working uber jobs to pay bills, and I should do the same. You are 100% commissioned, and are treated as replaceable. Of course, turnover is through the roof. Managers make bets on your likelihood of succeeding. Lied about my commission plan. You will not get paid for at least 1 month because they hold back your pay. Zero training on a complext product does not lead to success no matter how great of a salesperson you are. You will be cussed at if management thinks you don't close hard enough, and they expect you to take it. College hazing metality from "veteran (those that have been there a few years) employees. Don't even think about taking a sick day, as your job will be threatened. The secretary had a family member die, and she was forced to provide a death certificate! No organizational justice or fairness, as they favor certain employees. Complete distraction on a daily basis. This company offers NOTHING appealing to responsible, seasoned salespeople. Dont waste your time here.

Thank you for taking a moment to write a review. Your statements are so far from factual I wonder if you have the right company. Let's clear up a few things: *If you have a "Sales Background" you should be used to having a paycheck two weeks in arrears, it's quite common in commission sales. *General Steel has one of the highest retention rates in the industry, with veterans that have worked here over 15 years. *Training is extensive and ongoing. At General Steel you train with the Owner and the VP of Sales along with the sales managers. *A rookie (new salesman with General Steel) has taken the "Salesman of the Year" award the last two years in a row, making over 110K in their first year with us. Both of those individuals are still with us and doing great! We have a few that started in Feb of this year that are on track to beat last years best! We let our candidates know that this isn't a "training ground" for new sales people & that this isn't an easy sale! Our base plus commission structure along with the amazing work / life balance of a Monday - Friday work week are among the many reasons our employee's love working here.
