Pros

Good team work from the rank and file Cutting edge technology - communications systems Challenging work Real cutting edge technology - primarily a communications house for Defense / Government. The rank and file (workers) work together well. They look out for one another. The work is challenging and important to U.S. Army - primary customer.

Cons

Excessive processes Punitive - failure is not tolerated Management is not people friendly Poor business ethics The company views processes as a religion, no flexibility - excessive. There is low tolerance to failure (can be punitive). This may be due to large numbers of layoffs, but I think it is the culture. Management is very much detached from the workers. You are a body. You execute you are fine. But don't step out of the box - will not be rewarded. GDC4S is highly competitive, winner take all outfit, not into sharing the pie with other companies.

Pros

Good work life balance Projects matter for our war fighters Most co-workers are competent and dedicated More work than people, and moving to other engineering jobs is possible

Cons

Some numbskulls seem to get into senior positions. A "Consolidation" of buildings is underfunded, poorly planned, and drives chaos. The push to squeeze every nickel of efficiency means that there isn't always money for equipment or team building events (below the VP level).
