Pros

Do you like drones?! Awesome! Do you like BEING a drone?! Even better!! If you’re ready to work on PCs non-stop like a lifeless robot on a conveyor belt then this is the place for you! Be sure to eat your bowl of Wheaties because as a PC technician you’ll be privilege to have the work of three PC technicians! You’re in for a fun ride! There are so many great things this company has to offer! Are you looking for competitive wages? Great morale? Management who cares about their employees as much as being profitable? Well, let me tell you, General Atomics has none of that! Are you satisfied with your wage? Great! Along with your exciting roll being a PC technician you will be trained in all sort of things like MAC, Linux, iPhone apps, administrative applications and task to make other teams more efficient while increasing YOUR workload! They’ll be sure to milk you for all that you’re worth. No need for that pesky promotion! I hope you like meetings! There are mandatory meetings EVERY DAY! They serve no purpose other than to have meetings. Fun, right?! Are you concerned about work/life balance? No worries! You’ll be so stressed out that you’ll think about nothing but work! You need to contact a supervisor? No problem! Management is so top heavy you’ll have no issues finding one. They’ll have little to no knowledge of your job, but nonetheless they have plenty of time not to help you! The supervisors are great people, self-centered and spineless. Quick to throw you under the bus and ready to keep their head down to keep their job. That’s dedication. That’s TEAMWORK, baby! Are you tired of complaining about your job? Are you feeling overworked? Are you concerned about your mental health and well-being? Wondering if management actually cares about your challenges? Well you’re in luck, because management doesn’t care about anything you have to say! This is not a job, it’s a culture! Working as a team to ensure that the big boss looks good! The motto is: Do what you’re told, or else! There’s no better motivation than threatening employees with write-ups, and that’s where management shines the most! But don’t take my word for it, fill in that application today!

Pros

Mostly good people and skilled engineers that are easy to work with and great to learn from across all groups/locations. There is opportunity to pursue technical areas of interest and to stand out by leading improvement efforts. The company is flexible and often facilitates changes according to interest. Sense of job security generally feels good and stable, the greater GA really backs the Space division. The greater company works on some really interesting and cool things, beyond just defense. Pay is pretty good. Experience with most middle management (of engineers) has been positive, they typically advocate and support their employees.

Cons

Unsure of division leadership and strategic direction. Overall impression is that engineers' perspectives are not adequately weighted in both proposals and certain decisions for active missions. Processes burden performance, though there is intention for constant improvement. Ignoring engineering concerns (i.e. with schedule) + process burdens often result in delays and increased pressure, and therefore a less than ideal working environment at times. Overtime pay is not guaranteed but can be approved. Working with teams in different locations can lead to tension and "silo-ing" (though not always). Space division is becoming mostly defense focused (an industry trend), but would be nice to continue work in the civil earth and space science arena. They also demo'd a nice cafeteria/gathering space for more work/equipment space.
