Pros
The only positive benefit about working for Generac is their healthcare package, it's very competitive.
Cons
This company runs on ego, personal agenda and stupidity. The marketing department is fragmented, chaotic and lacks the needed structure among other things to effectively do business in this era. The executive team rewards and embraces “yes” people and with this, continue to put folks in management and decision-making positions that lack real experience, professionalism, intelligence or strategic and creative thinking. Meanwhile, folks with proven abilities and expertise stay stagnant with little empowerment, real opportunity or a voice. This cycle breeds the negative culture that exists today. From a marketing perspective, Generac is a sales-driven company—very tactical and reactive—not customer- or marketing-driven. If you’re a marketer with strategic expertise and truly understand this function, their approach will set you up for failure and frustration as it will create obstacles in your role very single day. Also, as a dumping ground for Sales, you’ll spend most of your time redoing work to accommodate random opinions and preferences in order to keep the heads of business units happy. Projects can and will go on for months and in some cases, will be tossed out entirely or will require more and more changes (as the company makes changes to products quickly) and might never reach a resolution. Your time also will be spent navigating poor decision-making, egos, judgement and office politics will get in the way of your producing quality work and results for the company, even with the best of intentions. Generac will be a career setback, keep looking as there’s much better companies that value and treat their people with respect.
