Favouring external recruitment over internal progression - Tech Director GSK Employee Review

Pros

Good company and trying to change quickly

Cons

Long term staff are now seen as a mill stone and no longer valued with most new opportunities (especially around Digital) are going to external recruits, who seem to get bigger pay and higher grades. Opportunity and career progression is now very limited to long term staff and most now moved to dead end jobs or made redundant despite consistent high performance. Culture moving towards “self promotion” and “me, me, me” rather than collaborating teams, leading to less loyalty and more transactional relationship from staff.

Pros

Can't emphasize enough how approachable, non-judgmental, and supportive the team is, both managers and colleagues. Everyone genuinely cares about your holistic professional development and growth.

Cons

This may seem unrealistic, but I genuinely did not have a single negative experience during my time here.
