Pros
Community Service projects, low fees to their members, and branch hours are good. There are many friendly and good people working for the institution who really want to do a good job and make a difference.
Cons
This was like working in the twilight zone. Management is beyond controlling of their employees - no cell phones in the building, their "drug" policy wants you to give them a list of any meds you are on, no flexibility in hours or schedules, and a pervasive fear that you might inadvertently upset someone higher up and "disappear." People worked there one day, and were gone the next never to be mentioned again. You were even told not to ask questions and not to mention them ever again. They cultivate fear in order to keep people from asking too many questions I think - I suspect there is something illegal going on but never saw any proof. No way an organization with very few fees, low loan rates, and very low deposit averages is keeping afloat otherwise. I never could figure out where the revenue came from. Anyone who would dare question a policy or make suggestions was at best shot down and belittled - in way too many circumstances they were let go. Benefits are a joke - terrible health insurance with high deductibles, no sick time, vacation that you also use for sick days but can't carry to build up a cushion for emergencies. Very glad I was able to move on.
