My direct manager was excellent and made the job much better than it otherwise would have been. The role provided experience with store operations, inventory, customer service, sales, and manager-in-charge responsibilities. Sales associates could earn decent paychecks with consistent performance, especially when there was enough customer traffic and inventory that matched customer demand.

The hourly base pay was low, and management compensation did not always reflect the hours or responsibility required. Managers could work more hours and sometimes earn less than strong sales associates. The store location had inconsistent traffic, and the showroom often carried older or harder-to-sell inventory, which made sales performance more difficult. The company did not always seem supportive of store-level challenges, especially when online pricing and promotions competed directly with brick-and-mortar sales.
