At the time I was employed, I worked full time hours under a 'part-time' title. I believe this was a way for the company to save money, I was given no benefits whatsoever and no fixed schedule. I know this was an issue for others on the team as well.
You would be frequently asked to cover for those calling in sick, which happened very often and left people scrambling or spread thin.
The wage was $18/hour at the time, with no tips. The company seems to pride itself on paying above average to it's staff and as reason to not supplement pay with tips, this is just not right in my opinion as esthetician rely heavily on tips in the industry to get by.
There is a sort of Fig hierarchy which you will learn very quickly upon working there. One individual in particular, in a leadership role, made my time there very difficult. This person would make me feel like a complete idiot for asking questions whether it was navigating the POS system or looking for a specific item in BOH, they seemed to enjoy belittling or putting down those they decided were not part of the fig inner circle.
You have cleaning and chore lists to complete each shift on top of your 10 clients a day; this included cleaning the bathroom ( as an esthetician touching peoples faces this should not be a thing), scrubbing the facial chairs with steel wool, and steam moping floors. These chores did not fall in line with the job description of light house keeping such as folding towels, sanitizing tools, sweeping etc.
At times I'd be asked to work in a pod designated for the doctors. This meant using lower quality technology in facials (smaller portable machine) where I'd have to set up the entire room before starting my shift with no additional time factored in before starting my shift.
