Pros

Great People: I have never worked with a smarter or more friendly group of people. It leads to a great working environment where I feel comfortable leaving before 6 every day and WFH as needed Great Product/Vision: It's one thing to have a successful company, but another to have a successful company that is also doing meaningful work. I'm happy the work we do has tangible benefits for people Interesting Work: We are modeling the world of global trade in software; A very hard and rewarding problem

Cons

Dog Friendly: Most people like dogs, and the ones we have are well trained, but I personally find them loud and obnoxious Possibly Too Fast growth: Flexport has grown from 100 to 400 in the past 12 months and I worry that growing too fast will lead to culture problems. We shall see

Ryan Petersen here. I hear you on the dogs thing. In our new office I'm thinking of creating a no dogs area. Will look into feasibility. I'm glad you point it out. And point about growing headcount too fast is for sure true. It's not 100 to 400, more like 150 to 350 worldwide (190 in SF) but still, culture is one of our biggest remaining risks, and one that never goes away. I want our people to be happy working here for the next 20 years even as we scale to be a massive global org. I spend half my time just working on this issue, and would love to hear any ideas folks have to keep it strong. Email me anytime as always!

Pros

Lots of really smart and nice people at the company. The culture has improved a lot recently. There's a good amount of room to develop and jump on things that you might not be exposed to in other companies.

Cons

The company moves a little too fast at times and maybe overlooks things that are working well and don't necessarily need to be changed for "efficiency" at the risk of doing things incorrectly. It can be hard to move up in some departments. work/life balance varies a lot by team.
