Pros
- The technology being used has a ton of interest in the entertainment industry. There is no shortage of work. It is really exciting if you enjoy beta tech. - Middle management has some incredibly talented and thoughtful people across all departments. Some of the best people and mentors in the business. - Social events and paid lunches are semi-regular.
Cons
- The direction feels a little schizophrenic from the top, with priorities constantly shifting in science, software dev, and VFX production. Senior leadership has changed several times over the past few years, which has contributed to the aforementioned issue of changing priorities. Software sales are prioritized internally, though Hollywood execs would rather assign work to Flawless as a VFX vendor. Feels like the ship wants to go south, but the winds are blowing north. - Pay conversations usually stall out. Company policy is not to negotiate pay aside from the rare promotion. They only provide a 3% YoY merit increase, but that is an inflation adjustment at best. - Feels very corporate for a startup. The operating principles are extremely similar to FAANG. The benefit of a startup is to exchange corporate bureaucracy for something fun and unique. That feels lost here.
