It’s gone downhill with the new CEO Brian Tierney - Engineer FirstEnergy Employee Review

Pros

Clean bathrooms and potable water in most locations

Cons

Constantly hiring contractors instead of employees. They laid off and offered early retirement to 700 employees in 2023 and didn’t replace any of them. Now a hiring freeze and more layoffs. If the community is wondering why the company provides poor service it’s the new CEO hiring 100 new c suite executives and laying off the low level employees that actually get the work done. The company sure loves to tout how diverse the c suites are but director level and below are almost exclusively white men

Pros

FirstEnergy is a big company with a lot of growth that I've seen firsthand. Employees are helpful and all have the shared goals of keeping reliability of the electric grid. The pay is decent and stays competitive with the market rates as they do reviews consistently and evaluate. Its a great company that is trying to do better after misguided leads hip in the past

Cons

Some executive leadership vision is not shared with lower level employees. The recent transition from WFH back to the office has left employees such as myself wondering why its not role based WFH.
