Pros

Employee internal helpline/chat is great.

Cons

- Demoralizing, overly scrutinizing managers who have no problem belittling staff members in front of clients. - ***** Uncertainty ***** : Fifth Third often hires staff members to get them in the door but will not have a branch placement for them for anywhere from 1-5 months. - Some branches are open Saturdays, some are not. Not sure how that's fair? - Fifth Third is VERY conservative and simply not practical with the policies/limitations they put in place. You will constantly be dealing with customer complaints. So, you'd think to yourself - "Don't we have a customer service line for that?" Brace yourself.. customer service line is dead weight, and they very frequently direct clients to go to their nearest branch, so that adds to the complaints/issues you will have to deal with. If you basically want to take on a job as a Complaints Specialist - go for it, by all means. - If you are placed in a very busy, short-staffed, poorly managed branch - don't give yourself high hopes for growth. Most of your time will be spent simply just surviving the day and you won't have the appropriate opportunities to accomplish what Fifth Third expects of you to be considered for promotions. Just look at the BBB and see how many complaints Fifth Third has had in the last 3 years, compared to other banks that share similar assets and customer volume. If you decide not to join them, you're welcome!

The training is very thorough and extensive. They take security seriously. You are supported when you’re a new hire. There are ways to be involved and feel included in the company. Information is readily available to help you.

Cons

It is a job that can lead to a lot of stress. It can be very fast paced. There are a lot of policies, procedures and information to remember. Should have proficient computer skills to be successful with this position..
