Pros
There are very few perks. 30% off (which they give to customers online and in store very frequently) and 50% off clearance items. Paid training seminars with free gifts. Attendance bonus and occasional store bonus (high turnover rate means new staff which means little product knowledge & lower sales) . The only people who rave about this company have been grandfathered in (with benefits) for 8+ years.
Cons
This used to be my favorite job. It’s hardly worth working here unless you are employed at one of the stores that is the corporate favorite. Their scheduling is ridiculous, making you work alone for up to 8 hours with no break, no available drinking water, and the threat to your job if you close up to get food or water. There are no safety precautions set up for employees who may be faced with violence and little to nothing is done when you ARE faced with violence. The pay doesn’t compensate you for the toxic environment that this company has harbored and no benefits unless you are management. With the nature of this company, interesting characters are something you do have to worry about and your safety is questioned a lot, especially if you are unfortunate enough to be scheduled alone. The only opportunity to get a raise is to get a promotion and take on 5x the amount of work. The turnover rate is EXPONENTIAL, with more than 2 stores' entire staff quitting in the year and half I was employed with the company, myself included in the third store to get fully restaffed. Not to mention the employees that come and go quickly. It’s a fun job until it isn’t anymore.
