Pros
I actually really liked the work environment. I understand why it can be perceived as "cold," but as an intern I was really glad to be treated like an actual employee. I received a lot of experience working with different departments and multiple projects that I know puts me in a great place for the future. I loved my bosses, CEO, and the team I worked for. In an age where independent film is still struggling to find its place, Fandor lets these films have a space to live and be seen. Overall, I really enjoyed my experience, especially getting to meet the heads of other departments and learning about the overall distribution process.
Cons
The work I did was mostly individual, and I know a lot of people personally that don't enjoy that kind of environment. I also wish I received more training in the first day on the job. For example, I didn't learn the full idea of how a film went through licensing and distribution and through which companies until Week 3 of the internship. I also wish I got to know the other side of the office more, and it did take me awhile to feel really at home in the office.
